Drifting through leafy tree tunnels and meadows on Cuckoo Dyke at Drakeholes. . The Chesterfield Canal, known locally as "Cuckoo Dyke" officially opened in 1777 and stretches for 46 miles, with 59 narrow locks, six wide locks and two tunnels. It's beautifully green, with barely a house in sight at the eastern end, and chock full of wildlife.
