This little place was my find of the day, whilst ambling around the quaint streets of Stamford, an historic market town in the south of my home county, Lincolnshire.

Miss Pickering is a flower shop / florist filled with seasonal flowers and vintage vases, and a whippet called Valentine in the window. Yes, you read that correctly, a whippet.

I was so tempted to go in and ask Miss Pickering if the whippet was for sale and how much she wanted for him. After looking at Miss Pickering’s website later, it’s clear that Valentine plays an important role in the business, drawing customers in and charming passers-by. It’s obvious that this particular doggy in the window was never going to be for sale.
