Brayford Belle and Sgt Pepper - an unlikely combination, unless they're the names of boats. This is the Brayford Pool in the heart of Lincoln, flanked on one side by the University of Lincoln and by a great selection of restaurants on the other. I love having a coffee sitting outdoors here in the summer, watching the world go by on the water, which is what I was doing on this day in September. Swans on flooded farmland .... it doesn't take long for the natural world to be turned on its head by extremes of weather. Today is the last day of the Christmas holidays so we went to Bransby Horses Rescue Centre to visit a horse that was recently "gifted" to our granddaughter. You can buy a year's adoption and the money goes towards the upkeep of the horse. She was so disappointed to learn that the horse had died in the meantime, and we had no idea. However, feeding hay to this cute ginger Shetland pony helped soften the bad news.
