Elder daughter has traded in her sunbed for horse riding lessons. An odd swap I know. Today was Day One of the new pursuit.
A frosty, bright Sunday morning found me standing around shivering, my trusty camera poised ready to capture the historic moment. It had to be recorded for the family photo tomes. Obviously.
I was thinking that it could go either way; she could love it or hate it. On the one hand she has a natural affinity with animals, whilst at the same time she needs lots of encouragement to stick at an activity if it cannot be mastered immediately. Impatience is a family trait I’m afraid.
It went very well. I’m not entirely sure how she managed to maintain an ear to ear grin for much of the time but she did. Elder daughter was grinning too, happy to have traded her tan for the benefit of her own little girl.
I’m very relieved to have my pale skinned daughter back, and I’m sure that my 4-year old granddaughter will enjoy her Sunday horse riding lessons for a long time to come.
